I am 100% positive you want to start living your best life this week. And you 100% can no matter the circumstances, income, or status.

There is a moment in everyone’s life when you think, “Is this all there is to life? There has to be more than this.” I used to sit there and stare at the ceiling and think of all the people who had it better than me. I was jealous, angry, and sad all the time.
I made myself and everyone around me miserable. No one truly liked talking to me because I was negative all the time. My poor husband tried to sympathize with me, but it became too much to listen to day in and day out.
There was a time that I didn’t believe in any of my dreams, myself, or that life would get better than what it was. So I get it; however, I am also here to tell you that it does get better, but not overnight. I changed my mental health, my happiness, my self-confidence, and so much more.
I can let you in on a secret on how I started living my best life; none of my circumstances changed that drastically. I mean, sure, my husband and I received a few raises, but the cost of living made us feel like we didn’t. We live in the same house that we thought we would already move out of by now, we have two kids to feed (love them though, haha), and we still need to worry about one of our cars giving out any day now. (Have you seen the price of used and new cars???)
However, despite all of that, I am living my absolute best life. I am excited to wake up and see what the world (although scary at times) has to offer my family and me. I am truly happy.
This post is all about how to start living your best life!
How to Start Living Your Best Life in 10 Steps
You Need to Hydrate
You can’t start living your best life dry and crusty. Your soul, mind, and body need water and need it now. I was an avid non-water drinker. I used to HATE water. It was bland, boring, and there were Dr. Peppers to drink.
My best week was when I was hydrating by drinking at least a liter of water daily. I had more energy, my skin felt and looked good, and I was overall happier. You might not hate your life, but you might need water.
Ways To Hydrate More:
Invest in your Skin Care & Smelling Good
You don’t need department store, celebrity-graded skin care products. Most of my skin care products are $15 or less. I have been routinely keeping up with my skin care, and my skin literally glows.
Plus, it’s an instant mood booster. I love feeling pampered, smelling good, and having soft, glowy skin. I am a dreamer, so I love a good mood/vision board. My dream lifestyle involves a skin care routine that was customized to my skin’s needs. None of it is expensive, and it’s less than 8 products for my face. I have more when I am feeling fancier. How can you have a bad day knowing your skin is glowing?
I don’t care if you are the girliest of girls (like me), more masculine, a man, or someone who never cared about skin before; a skin care routine makes you look your best, which helps you feel your best. Feeling good quite literally changes your life.

Extras:
Finish your self-care routine with a body oil, lotion, and your favorite fragrance. Or if you cannot handle fragrance, not smelling like anything also smells good.
Looking Put Together
MATCHING SETS! MATCHING SET! MATCHING SETS! Listen, I have never worn matching sets, and when I was a full-time SAHM, I wore the baggiest sweats, hair never done, and threw on whatever. I never felt pretty or put together, and scrambled to find something if I had to run simple errands.

I asked my friend group where we were finding cute matching sets, and Fashion Nova popped up. Love them or hate them, I found good, inexpensive sets that elevated my home attire and how I feel about myself. I wake up ready to put them on espically after my skin care routine.
I feel put together, wealthier (even though my bank account hasn’t changed), and like I am a mom who cares about herself. You can start living your best life if you feel like this is your best life.
Other Things to Keep in Mind:
Something else you can do is elevate your smartwatch band. I have the Versa 2 Fitbit, and I recently swapped out the band for a classier, everyday band. Looks closer to jewelry and matches my vibe a lot more than the sportier band it came with.
Follow your Dreams to the Fullest
Don’t let anyone talk you out of your dreams or what you desire. My dream career was one where I could work on my own schedule and remotely. So I became a blogger. My husband is a bass musician for hire because he followed a passion (on top of his 9-5 career).
Follow your dreams with a childlike wonder and don’t let your foot off the gas. Ever see a kid fall down and then immediately get back up? Do more of that. Experiment with your goals, have fun on the journey, and don’t let anyone tell you that you are silly for living your best life.
The same people who mocked you will be the same people who will ask how you did it.

Create a Budget (and stick to it)
You know why. How can you live your best life if you’re stressed about money? You don’t need a million dollars, but you do need to know where your $1,000 is going. Be more mindful of where you are spending money.
There are many templates, books, and planners to help you get off the struggle bus. Living your best life involves knowing where your dollars are going.
Practice Gratitude
I struggle with this and have struggled with this. It’s really hard to be grateful for what you do have. I am going to hold your hand when I say this, pause, and appreciate. Ground yourself in the present moment and breathe. Start living your best life by appreciating the life you currently have.
You may not have the house of your dreams, but you have a home filled with love. It may not be a brand new car, but you have a car that runs. Stop to appreciate the warmth on your skin, the birds that you hear, and that you have a warm blanket to snuggle in.
Remember that You are the Main Character of your Story
Stop caring what others think, say, and imagine about you. They are irrelevant to your story. If you are a people pleaser, please stop; that will get you nowhere but used. You control the narrative and story about yourself.
You can rebrand yourself at any time in your life. The person you were yesterday literally has nothing to do with the person you are today. You can change the channel to your life at any time.
Be delusional and add magic to your life every day. Create a playlist that makes you feel happy, grateful, and confident. I have several different playlists that I like to play at other times or moments. Skip to the mailbox (that was more fun than I realized), dance in the rain (on my bucket list), and wear fuzzy slippers around the house.
There are really no rules to this, only rules that society has placed to make you feel small. You only have one life; become an active participant.

Add more Magic to Your Life
To add more to the above tip, adding magic to your life is something I have been fighting to add more of to my life. Living my life like a Hallmark movie is my personal life goal for 2026. Try taking a new route to work, try a new coffee, cosplay as a rich person, or whatever instinct you’d like to follow.
Once you realize life has very few rules you have to live by, that’s the real magic. You don’t have to work a regular 9-5, wear pants, or put up with people’s attitudes. I recently put on my vision board a ring set that would cost $10,000 if it were real. I found a dupe for $140 to wear as my wedding set (in addition to my original set) to change my style up and have fun.
Who says my ring has to be diamonds? Marketing, really good marketing says you have to have real gold and diamonds. My house is a 2017 singlewide; we bought it brand new, and as far as I am concerned, it’s a mansion. I blog at a Panera Bread to feel like I’m heading to a cute little office.
Bibbity, Bobbity, Boo, the magic lives inside of you. Go dance in the rain or have a dance battle with someone at the club. Read a book in a cute cafe or read your Bible/devotional by candlelight.
Create Systems That Work With You

Part of why you struggle with living your best life is that your life is actively fighting against you. There’s no structure to your day or ways to implement new habits. Some of my favorite books are: Atomic Habits, The 12 Week Year, and The 5 Second Rule.
Systems to Try:
Find any technique that works with how your brain thinks. What works for Bethany may not work for you. Stop fighting against yourself.
Live Authentically
How to start living your best life by living 100% as yourself with no guilt. You are not perfect, but that is freeing. Be kind to people, love others, and be charitable.
Be yourself. If you gravitate towards luxury, then stop trying to downplay that. If you love being from the country, then fully embrace that. You like makeup, pink, and sparkles on Tuesday, but Wednesdays are your goth days, then by all means keep going.
Life is what you make it, and I decided this year that I am leaning full into living as my true self. That’s a pampered (gold eye masks, anyone), matching pjs, hot tea, blogging as my career, and lots of pink.
Living your best life means trying to live authentically and intentionally. Loving and appreciating what is as you work toward the end goal. All we have is the present moment. Love yourself and others; that’s adding true magic to everyone’s life. Everyone could use a little more authenticity.
