Creating a homemaker schedule that motivates you is insanely simple but needed. Having a schedule alleviates the feeling of overwhelm and forgetfulness. It gives you a clear-cut vision for the day, week, and month.
Are you tired of feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, and understaffed? I was too, especially when I became a stay-at-home mom. I was pregnant with a 3-year-old and freshly retired from the working mom life.
I’ll be honest, I struggled for months. And although I was growing a human while watching another one, I still felt bad for the house falling apart. I had no routine or schedule, and I was left feeling defeated every night.
Finally, I got my stuff together because I was tired of feeling defeated and created a homemaker checklist for me to follow. And IT. CHANGED. EVERYTHING.
This post is all about creating a homemaker schedule that gets you results.
Homemaker Schedule
What is a Homemaker?
A homemaker is (typically a mom) someone who manages the home. Usually, they do not work outside the home but that doesn’t mean that a homemaker is always a stay-at-home mom. Sometimes you have men who manage the home or you have working women who manage their homes.
What is Everything a Homemaker Does?
The duties of the homemaker can vary from home to home. Some daily tasks of a homemaker include:
Whatever keeps the household running smoothly and efficiently is what the homemaker takes care of. They maintain the overall well-being of the household.
Why Have a Homemaker Daily Routine?
Being a homemaker is not just about checking off a long list of to-dos every single day. However, there are still home tasks that need to be taken care of. Having a daily routine or a daily homemaker schedule will ensure that everything is taken care of in a timely fashion.
Homemaking is the art of creating a welcoming and safe haven for your family. It is an important role as you are the “thermostat” of your household. You set the tone and mood of your home and for yourself. I often draw inspiration from the Proverbs 31 woman when it comes to being the best homemaker for my family.
No one likes living in chaos and clutter. It can manifest in negative ways such as irritability or even anxiousness. I’ve experienced both due to a messy home and that is what made me change.
How to Create a Homemaker Schedule
Creating your schedule will not only be easy but a boost of morale once you’ve finished. Take a weekend to figure out the flow and already daily habits that you do.
write down your daily homemaking tasks
Take a moment and write down everything you need to do daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. That may seem like a lot but I promise it will ease your mental fatigue from having to remember tasks.
You can even split them into morning and evening tasks (or what I like to call shifts) and this has helped me tremendously. I love having “shifts” because this puts this into a job mindset for me.
My daily morning tasks include:
My daily night tasks include:
Breaking them up made my chores more manageable but allowed me to schedule my day around them. However, don’t feel discouraged, there are a lot of days I DO NOT get everything on my list done. This is simply a guide to help me manage my home.
My morning routine is only as strong as my night routine. Having a strong night shift produces a productive morning for the next day.
Write down your weekly to-do’s
These are the tasks or chores that only need to be done weekly. On Mondays, I clean all the bathrooms (obviously the kid’s bathroom gets a little more attention) and on Tuesdays, I focus on getting all the laundry folded and put away.
Planning out your weekly chores lightens the load of the daily chores. Knowing you only have to tackle one extra area helps the overwhelming mental load of the ever-growing to-dos.
write down your monthly and yearly to-do’s
These are a little thicker to remember because of how infrequently they happen. Having them already written and in your homemaker checklist will make those chores a breeze.
Monthly chores could include:
Yearly chores could include:
How to be a good homemaker is being diligent in your home. Managing the tasks that help create a loving and welcoming environment. And because you are a homemaker does not mean that all you are.
Whether you are a working mom, working-at-home mom, stay-at-home mom, or you’re not even a mom homemaking is an important role. Creating a homemaker schedule will help you excel and turn your house into a home.
