Being married is no easy task and you have to choose love every moment of every day. They say the first year is usually the toughest but I disagree, every year is the toughest. Hot date ideas for married couples at one point seemed like only old couples needed to search for that.
Now you find yourself in need of some help because your love life and intimacy dropped off. You have to actively choose each other and stay committed until “death do we part.” That is sometimes hard to do.
It’s so easy to allow life, the kids, and careers to completely halt your love life. So much so that you don’t remember the last time you had sex or even just sat down and had a conversation with your spouse. In fact, who even are they?
You look back and relive the “glory” days. The passion, the fire, the sparks that you two had before life became so complicated. My husband and I have two kids, he has a demanding career, and life is sometimes just depressing.
We have fallen into the mundane routine of life and sometimes start to miss each other. We lived under the same roof but have become roommates in an instant. Luckily, that doesn’t have to be your or our reality.
This post is all about hot date ideas for married couples to keep the spark alive.
1. Cooking a Meal Together
I don’t know about you, but there’s something sexy about cooking a meal together. It can be as lavish or as cheap as you want it to be. Kick up the spice and remove as little (or as much) clothing as you feel comfortable doing. Wear nothing but an apron and a chef’s hat and I bet you’ll figure out what’s for dessert.
Extra Tip: Make a bet on who can shop for their assigned ingredients the fastest. The winner gets to choose whatever movie, TV show, or “other” activities to do after or during dinner.
2. Have a Picnic (Indoors works too)
Grab a picnic basket, a fluffy blanket, and all your favorite finger foods or sub sandwiches. Soak in the sweet summer air while the sun warms your face or send the kids to bed early and have a picnic indoors. You can even add string lights, candles, and a fireplace YouTube video to really set the mood.
3. Game Night
My favorite games are Uno, Monopoly, and Scrabble. You can play any game as long as it brings out the fun and playful sides of you. Have a few drinks or make some mocktails and roll a few die.
4. Try a New Restaurant Together
I love an even playing field and discovering something new with my husband. There’s something exciting about neither one of us having been somewhere but experiencing (hopefully some great food and drinks) together.
5. Coffee Date
Take it back now, y’all. Keep it super simple; have a cup of joe and just talk like this is your first date. Stare into each other’s eyes and remind yourselves why you even got married in the first place. Allow yourselves to remember that you were a couple before you became parents or a CEO.
6. Go to a Concert
My husband and I have been to two concerts together. One was a Journey tribute band and I have never seen or heard of Journey. It was fun to listen to something my husband enjoyed when he was growing up and the next one was a Charlie Puth concert which we both listened to.
7. Paint and Sip (at home)
Grab your favorite wine, your favorite food, and gather some paint supplies. Doesn’t need to be overly expensive. Visit the local dollar store for some supplies and set the mood with some candles.
(Here’s something fun that the two of you can paint together.)
8. Karaoke Night
I am not singing in front of strangers unless I’m under the influence of something haha. However, hosting our own at-home karaoke contest sounds like a blast. YouTube a video or if you’re anything like me, I have actual karaoke CDs and just belt out some sweet jams.
9. Take a Joy Ride
There’s something romantic and fun about a kid-free road trip. No one is screaming and you can play music that isn’t Cocomelon for once. It can be a destination road trip or just a drive on the highway with no objective.
10. Binge Watch a New Series Together
It could be a docuseries, an Anime, an older show, or a well-known bad movie. You’ll love trying to put together the puzzle or finding something shocking. Or sit down and have your own comedy show at home. Nothing beats laughing together.
11. Do a Ghost Walk/Tour
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there will be an interesting history lesson while you walk. We had one in our local downtown area and learned about its rich history.
12. Listen to a Podcast Together
There are a ton of different genres like mystery, comedy, and educational to generate enlightening conversation.
13. Start a Podcast Together
Alternatively, be the podcast that you feel may be missing in the world. Share your experiences as a couple or discuss your favorite horror movies.
14. Food Truck Tour
Support all your local small businesses while tasting everything your city has to offer. Plus, you may discover a new favorite restaurant.
15. Go Bowling
Maybe not one of your typical hot date ideas for married couples. But set up a fun and sexy bowling competition. Bring on the extra fun and have a double-date bowling competition.
16. Horseback Riding
Depending on your location, you can take a romantic stroll on the beach.
17. Bake a Cake or Dessert Together
Pick your favorite dessert and either see who can make the best version or make it together.
18. Start a book club
You can do this alone as a couple or invite other couples. Every week, get together and discuss the elements of the book.
19. Take a Dance Class
Zumba, salsa, hip-hop, or swing–there’s a dance for every style or preference.
20. Indoor Rock Climbing
I did this once with my husband before we got married and I loved the thrill of rock climbing and it wasn’t outside.
21. Water Balloon Fight
Unleash your inner kid and soak each other with a friendly fire of water balloons.
22. Nerf Gun Fight
Or turn the house into a competition zone and take each other down with friendly fire.
23. Make Cocktails (or Mocktails) Together
T-Pain has an awesome cocktail mixology book. There’s something for everyone or look up some non-alcoholic drinks to showcase your bartender skills.
24. Plan a Statecation
Book a hotel or Airbnb stay within your state or closest city. Explore new surroundings, your local pubs, or even just cozy up in a new environment.
25. Take a Couple Photoshoot
Have fun posing and looking into each other’s eyes while creating memories.
26. Plan a trip to a Museum or Art Gallery
Expand your cultural knowledge and become well-rounded individuals together.
27. Tie Dye Shirts for Each Other
Each of you could come up with a design for the other to wear. Pick their favorite colors and get creative.
28. Go Mini Golfing
Let your competitive, playful side out for a night full of laughter and fun.
29. Create a Vision Board
I truly believe there’s nothing sexier than goal planning together. Plan out your must-haves for the next 5 years and how you are going to achieve them.
30. Sexting Each Other
Sexting (texting flirtatious messages or images) can be a very spicy way to stay on each other’s mind. This is especially fun if you both are away from each other for long periods of time (i.e. if you both work outside the home or one travels a lot). So not so much a date but something to spark the passion throughout the day.
31. Sunday Brunch
I love a brunch. There is something about eating breakfast closer to noon that feels so romantic.
32. Go to an Amusement Park
Book a weekend or day trip to one of your favorite amusement parks. Ride all the rides, taste the unique food, and explore the park together.
33. Take a Trip to the Beach
Build sandcastles, collect seashells, and look at some of the wildlife that inhabit the land. Enjoy the majestic sunset as you chow down on some of your favorite foods.
34. Volunteer Together
Bless other people with your time together. Seeing your spouse in a giving environment allows you to see another side of them as they meet and help others in need. Whether it’s at a local soup kitchen or creating care boxes for the less fortunate, give your time together.
35. Purchase a Date Night Adventure
The Adventure Challenge has an In Bed version and the original Couples Challenge Edition. Both versions sound like new and exciting ways to spice up your dating scene. Both have scratch-off challenges to do and both have camera bundles to capture all your moments together.
This post was all about how to keep the passion alive as a married couple. Sometimes life comes fast and that’s why it’s important to have date ideas for married couples to keep the romance going.
